Hastings’ Black Community: History & Experiences: a historical presentation coming this month to Pleasant Hill Library (Zoom Event).

Learn about the stories and timeline of early Black families who made Hastings their home from 1857 to 1954. Descendants of the Dungeon family from Harrisburg, Va. will describe their journey to Hastings and eventually to south Minneapolis after the burning of Hastings' Browns Chapel, an African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Presented by members of Building Remembrance for Reconciliation. Geared for adults.

Hastings Safety Camp coming June 23! The City of Hastings Fire, Police, and Parks and Recreation departments will offer a Safety Camp June 23 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at Hastings High School.

• This one-day camp will teach kids entering 3rd-5th grade a variety of topics including mental safety, fire safety, bike safety, self-defense, and much more. • Participants will be teamed with local leaders from all the participating organizations while they go through a day of games, activities, and learning sessions.

Commemorative pavers at the Rotary Pavilion available! Leave your legacy or honor the memories of loved ones while contributing to the sustainability and long-term maintenance of the wonderful Rotary Pavilion venue and adjacent features. The city adopted a program in 2017 to honor requests for additional pavers at the site to be engraved with special messages. Requests require a minimum donation of $2,000 and must be made before May 31 each year. On-site engraving of messages occurs in early to mid-June.

Below are forms that must be filled out to accompany a donation. Forms are to be returned via email to Nick Egger, Public Works Director, at

Dakota County Public Health is now scheduling additional COVID-19 vaccine appointments based on state guidelines. Hastings car shows are back! - JOIN US MAY 16, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Second Street in Historic Downtown Hastings!

The Hastings Downtown Business Association and the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau are planning for the return of the historic Hastings Car Shows this summer. Car shows will be held the THIRD SUNDAY of each month, May through September.

HASTINGS Parks and Recreation

The Hastings Family Aquatics Center will open this year and swimming lessons will resume! Online Swimming Lesson Registration is now underway. Register online at The pool will open for the 2021 season on Sunday, June 6, 12-5 p.m. for a Family/Floatie Swim!
