The 2011 Legislative Session has ended, and unfortunately, our projected $5.1 billion budget deficit has not been eliminated.



The Legislature began the year promising residents that state government should live within its means no different than folks are doing at home and at work. Governor Dayton promise everyone he wanted to raise taxes on Minnesotans.

I’m pleased to report that the Minnesota House has approved its balanced budget legislation. As we do every budget cycle, lawmakers craft a funding proposal for each area of government – such as environment, K-12 education, and transportation. Once each of these omnibus finance proposals are approved, the House has then finalized funding for all state government services.
