The filing period for the 2011 School Board seats opened on 2 August 2011 and I was there.
In the last couple of years I have coached HFC United soccer, and HYAA baseball, served on the boards of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and Hastings Area Y, served on the Middle School Transition Building Task Force, Transportation and Safety Task Force, and Program Committee. Hey all - How much fun was that - to run for a school board position!!
I learned alot - including where King Midas Ct is, and that if I walk more than six hours a day I can eat as many Peanut M&Ms as I want and still lose weight. Of course these were not the most valuable lessons. I met so many people, with so many ideas about how to make our schools better! I reinforced my belief that it is possible to differ on issues, but still respect and value another person. The value is in… Continue

Speech to American Association of University Women (AAUW)- 10/26/09

Here is the speech I gave Monday night (Oct 26th, 2009) to the AAUW. (By the way take time to check out the AAUW Hastings Branch. It certainly looks like they have a great panel of speakers thorughout the year, and participate in a number of service activities to supprot education in the Hastings community.
