Question: Why don't more people out there run for public office? Hastings will have three incumbents returning to office for another four years this fall - with no opposition at the polls. It's also interesting to note that the Democratic candidate in the State House race only entered the contest when he attended a meeting and volunteered.

Does this mean Hastings residents think incumbents are all doing an exceptional job - or does no one else want to run and be in the public arena?
