The power of Democracy failing in Hastings?

It seems like the School Board never changes its mind. We vote for these people to make things better, and I feel that we've kept to the same system but is it really getting anywhere? Kids these days don't have a lot of choices because nothing is changing. No wonder Drugs and STDs are so high here. Just to name a few examples that I've heard of:
-Lacrosse team wanting to play at Todd Field for the Few playoff games that they have. Why can't they have something to feel proud of and play in their home stadium?
-Hastings Track and Field wanting an indoor pole vaulting box. I don't know a lot about this one, but if the show choir can go to Chicago why can't the pole vaulters vault inside instead of having to be in the windiest spot in Dakota County? Doesn't seem safe to me.
-Whats up with people not being able to travel for a baseball camp in Florida or a Choir trip to Hawaii or a Band/Orchestra trip out of the country. These seem like great experiences for the kids, and maybe if the kids had something to look forward too they wouldn't be shooting up heroin.
-This gets me the most fired up. My kid is in all Honors classes at HHS. he has a 3.8 GPA, and was rejected into Micro and Macro Economics? But what about the kids in regular classes? The ones who don't take the easier road and don't do all the hard work get in because they have a 4.0 and are #1 for their class rank. Does it make sense that they do all the hard work but don't get rewarded, but then the kids who don't work as hard get to be in the College in the Schools Classes? There's a Facebook group Petition made by the students, and I think people should be more aware...

We vote for these people to make Hastings better, But how are things getting better when Hastings is #1 in Minnesota for Drug use and STDs, not to mention a loaded Gun at the Middle school.?   The School Board has to get their mind out of the gutter and start looking at things from a different angle. Things are Changing! Start Adapting to the Changes!
