What on earth does a parent have to do to get through to these teacher's.  Sure give them detention if they break a rule.  Well if they don't have their assignment done, give them detention.  A parent has no idea what needs to be done on what ever day.  Yes the child needs to learn responsibilty.  I want my child to do well,  I'm the mother not the teacher in school.  So please give my child detention when something isn't complete.  Not zero's show them you care enough to help them pass your class.
