Given the current economic conditions, cities across Minnesota and America are constantly finding new and creative ways to attract businesses, retain existing employers, attract new residents, and encourage tourism.
But what about Hastings? Do you feel we are the right track? Are we doing the right things to attract new businesses and investment in the community? Or are we stuck in neutral, hoping the economy turns around soon?
It's a good question, and we'd like to hear what you think. Please share your thoughts in this discussion forum - there are no wrong answers!
Thanks for your opinions!

Thanks for your post, Richard.
By the "right track" we are talking about the general direction of the city.
Here are some questions to consider:
Are we attracting enough new businesses, and the right kind of new stores and restaurants? How is Hastings doing when compared to similar communities? Are the streets and medians well maintained? Are storefronts in Hastings attractive or run-down? Do you get a positive impression when you drive into Hastings, or do we have some work to do? How well are neighborhood zoning ordinances enforced? Would you recommend Hastings to someone moving to the area, or would you steer them to another city? How are our schools? How's the crime rate? Do you feel safe on the streets after dark?

Hi Steve,
Can you clarify what you think will happen when we have a commuter rail line between here at St. Paul?
